Community members gradually arrived, checked in with Maura at the front desk, and began to find their seats at the tables spread through the light-filled space.
At 12:30 Brian, the Café’s Program Manager, convened the 20 or so of us gathered there by asking, “What do you appreciate about this place?” Without hesitation a man sitting at the table next to me answered, “It’s kind of a sanctuary.” Another offered: “It’s a home away from home.” And a woman seated across from me said, “It’s a family.” Read more here: recoverycafenetwork.org/sanctuary-recovery-cafe-jefferson-county/
Recovery Cafe in Port Townsend holds ceremony to display new piece of Craig Rogers artwork3/16/2022
The painting, titled “The Artist’s Studio,” was created by local artist Craig Rogers. As an outsider artist — a self-taught creator with little influence from mainstream art and a unique personal vision — Rogers’ style of art beckons to past memories and experiences, infused with imaginative elements and bold creativity.

In fact, he’s slowly added a substantial collection of works of art to his apartment over the years. Komishane has amassed around 80 or so paintings and art pieces, with the majority coming from local artists and artisans in the Olympic Peninsula.
